Fritz W. Desroches was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. After completing 20 years in the US Army, he retired and stayed nearly 30 years in Germany. In February 2013, he returned to the USA. He is a member of the Torpedo Factory Art Association located in Alexandria, Virginia.
Fritz mostly paints with a palette knife, rendering a heavy coat of oil on canvas. Since 1989, he has been self-taught in an airbrush technique that is a mixed technique of the airbrush and the paint brush, and has been painting intensively with the airbrush ever since.
Fritz most commonly paints scenery somewhere in the Caribbean, landscape, seascape and photo realistic paintings. His paintings show a colorful scene of the Caribbean’s people in their daily activities. They show an extreme over-stretching of the limbs and at the same time maintain a proportional balance of these limbs. The way of living of these people have fascinated Fritz to develop this unique style. He transfers this nostalgia into a canvas full of intensive colors, movements and happiness.
Fritz Desroches has exhibited throughout Germany, the United States, and France.
