She was a student of Romare Bearden who has collaborated with Spike Lee and steeped herself in the Jazz tradition. Her expressionistic style bears the direct influence of Jazz: its syncopated rhythm, rich tonality, carefully crafted but seemingly carefree harmony and, most importantly, its ability to capture not only a fleeting mood but a complete human experience. She melds colors like a musician arranges notes, creating a spirit and a beat that pervades her images.

Do You Know A talented Fine Artist or Photographer?
This year, Bombay Sapphire and Russell Simmons are working together to create an eight-market juried exhibition. We would like to invite Artists to submit their work to be considered in one of the eight markets where painters and fine art photographers will submit works to be juried. 30 to 50 finalists' works will be selected (depending on the size of the gallery or Museum ) by a celebrity jury panel of high-profile collectors, artist and art administrators from your market. Two first place winners will advance to an exhibition during Art Basel Miami Beach in December, 2010 and Rush Arts Gallery in New York City. The goal of the Sapphire Artisan Series is to inspire, celebrate and give new exposure to a diverse group of today’s up and coming artists and photographers.
